This talk by Dr. Ron Miller was recorded at the North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield, Illinois. Ron discusses how it’s not so much the circumstances that determine our experience of the world, but the attitude we take toward the circumstances. Ron then wraps this concept around Islam in today’s world. The center of this all is shaped around a line in Rabbi Jonathan Sacks’ book titled Dignity of Difference that reads, “the antidote to violence is conversation.” Ron offers that we can have a clash of civilizations… or a conversation of civilizations.
